Today, educational advancement, achievement, and service continue to be the primary objectives for both the Miss America and Miss Colorado Organizations. The young woman selected as Miss Colorado serves as a role model, spokesperson, and serves her community through work with her platform and various charity and educational programs throughout Colorado. Miss America is more relevant than ever as a vast opportunity for some of the most intelligent, talented, multi-faceted, and stylish women today. Each year, the Miss Colorado Organization provides over $60,000 in scholarships and prizes to the young women who compete.
The Miss Colorado Pageant is an annual event held in June. The contestants are some of the most beautiful young women in Colorado, each with an incredible sense of community service and amazing talent. The vibrant young woman who becomes Miss Colorado will go on to compete in the nationally televised Miss America Pageant and be awarded a year of incredible opportunity and service. The Miss America Organization also supports a Teen program for young girls ages 13 to 17.
The Miss America Pageant began in 1921 in Atlantic City. For 90 years, the pageant has been one of our country’s most glamorous, honorable and exciting events. Miss America is a messenger of peace and goodwill. Each Miss Colorado & Miss America promotes a platform issue she deeply cares about while acting as a goodwill ambassador for the Children’s Miracle Network. Most impressively, the Miss America Organization is also the leading provider of scholarships for young women in the world, making available over 45 million dollars in scholarships to deserving young women. Many young women dream of scholarships to help pay the rising expense of higher education. We are committed to make that dream a reality.
More than twelve thousand young women participate each year in the local and state events, culminating in the selection of 53 national finalists who vie for the Miss America title in Las Vegas. Thousands of volunteers organize the local and state preliminary competitions, promoting community involvement throughout the United States and furthering scholarship and achievement among young women in their communities. It does not cost a cent to compete in the Miss America program - all you need is commitment, perseverance, talent and ambition.
